Firstly, bird droppings are a conductive mixed liquid with high water content and electrolyte, causing flashover between charged conductors;
Secondly, feces have contaminated the linear suspension insulator string. If there is too much fecal accumulation, it can cause pollution flashover accidents on the insulator;
Thirdly, when birds are sitting directly above the insulator string pulling loose feces, the long loose feces will slide along the surface of the porcelain skirt, forming a short circuit strip of loose feces on the insulator string, causing the insulator umbrella skirt to short circuit and reducing the creepage distance. When the loose feces short circuit more than 4 insulator strings, it can cause a single-phase grounding fault accident. The most fatal impact of birds on the contact network is to reduce or short the insulation distance between the charged body and the grounding body through their own body or bird nest branches, resulting in grounding trips or even wire breakage, insulator breakdown, and other accidents. The main manifestation is that bird nest materials (branches, iron wires, etc.) form a short circuit to the contact network, causing the contact network to trip and power off, affecting normal transportation order. In severe cases, it may also lead to contact network disconnection or equipment burning.
